ROYAL ASCOT FORECASTED WINNERS FOR FRIDAY JUNE 18th

2.30 Albany Stakes (Class 1) (Group 3) (Fillies) 6f

Jim Bolger’s RADHARCNAFARRAIGE is set to land this following an impressive win in a Group 3 at Naas. It was reported that she really didn’t pull out many stops compared with ability that day simply because she had some 3 lengths in hand as the winning post loomed. Such a facile win demands respect.

Trainer Richard Fahey struck on the first day of the meeting courtesy of the well-backed Marine Commando so it should be noted he rates Honeymead as his best runner this week in the Albany Stakes. The Pivotal filly cost 120,000 guineas at Tattersalls in 2008 but word of her reputation had obviously not spread as she was allowed to go off at 2-1 on her Carlisle bow. She had to work hard to beat the odds-on favourite that day by a nose but she demonstrated a likeable attitude and should handle the step up to six furlongs.

Main bet: RADHARCNAFARRAIGE 9/2 each way and/or Honeymead 9/1 each way.

3.05 King Edward V11 Stakes (Class 1) (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) 1m 4f

There or thereabouts will be improving Green Moon and Bullet Train, Monterosso and Buzzword will be on their heals. This is a tricky puzzle once again and although punters may be a little wary of Bullet Train following his disappointing Derby effort, he is worth another shot. Henry Cecil's charge was never really travelling at Epsom and connections were convinced the undulating track was the source of his undoing. I think AT FIRST SIGHT is worth a look following his 10 length clear run in the Epsom Derby before being pipped by Workforce near the line. This is a drop in grade here which together with the fact that trained Aidan O’Brien knows exactly what he’s doing has got to make AT FIRST SIGHT a likely winner.

Main bet: AT FIRST SIGHT 11/4 to win.

3.50 Coronation Stakes (Class 1) (Group 1) (Fillies) 1m round.

This is a weak card by Royal Ascot standards and I can’t work up much enthusiasm for the race at all. If you really want a punt then I guess Aiden O’ Brien’s Lllie Langtry is probably better than many. Although coming 5th at the Currugh recently she finished with a flourish from what was judged to be a difficult position. Since this looks a weak race on the books there is every chance for her to shine here today. Dangers are Music Show and Anna Salai. Neither can Jacqueline Quest and Lady Of The Desert be ruled out either. LADY OF THE DESERT ended last season as one of the leading contenders for Classic glory after bagging both the Princess Margaret and Lowther, before going on to finish third behind Special Duty in the Cheveley Park Stakes. Although Lady Of The Desert was only sixth past the post at Longchamp, there was much encouragement to be taken from the way she thoroughly saw out her race, particularly as she had again raced quite keenly.

Main bet: LADY OF THE DESERT 7/1 each way and/or Anna Salai 5/1 each way.

4.25 Wolferton Handicap (Class 1) (Listed Race) 1m 2f

FIERY LAD, trained by Luca Carmini, put in a sound performance at Epsom for which he was penalised with a 5lb rise, considered to be nothing in the scheme of things. Michael Jarvis trained Rainbow Peak, however, is unexposed and carries well justified claims following a 2nd place York run.

Main bet: FEIRY LAD 11/1 each way.

5.00 Queen's Vase (Class 1) (Group 3) 2m

Trainer Mark Johnson has won 5 of the last 9 winnings and today runs Corsica with Frankie Dettori on board. However, Aiden O’Brien trained MIKHAIL GLINKA can beat Corsica and step up in class. Sir Michael Stoute looks to hold a key in Total Command. The manner of his recent victory over 12 furlongs at Goodwood only reinforced that opinion. The leap up to two miles is a big ask but he is every inch a stayer and can rise to the challenge. Rainbow Peak can build on a good second at York recently with victory in the Wolferton Handicap.

Main bet: MIKHAIL GLINKA 11/4. Next best: Total Command 9/1 each way.

5.35 Buckingham Palace Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) 7 furlongs.

Thirty thunder to the line. Dunlop trained EAL KHAALEJ. Luca Cumani's Day Of The Eagle is an eyecatching contender and has progressed since being gelded following his sole win as a three-year-old and it seems to have worked wonders as he's unbeaten in two starts this term. Despite the fact he's now 20lbs higher than when beginning this winning spree there are few better than Luca Cumani when it comes to getting the most out of older handicappers and there could be more to come..

Take your pick: EAL KHAALEJ 18/1 each way & Day of the Eagle 13/2 each way.

GOOD LUCK!
