Ladies Day at Royal Ascot requires the top Royal Ascot Tipster to step forward. And with 5 wins and 5 places to his name in the first 2 days then Brian Smith is just the man for the job.
His regal presence (check out the beard ladies) and wisdom of the turf makes all the ladies swoon. Add a top hat full of winning slips, a few bottles of Veuve Clicquot and a dash of sunshine and you're in for the perfect day.
Enjoy Ladies Day and be sure to look out for our man of the turf Mr Brian Smith and if spotted, give him an nudge and ask him, "Where did you get that hat?" and you'll both burst into song and be forced to down another bottle of Veuve.

ROYAL ASCOT FORECASTED WINNERS FOR THURSDAY JUNE 17th
2.30 Norfolk Stakes (Class 1) (Group 2). 2 year olds. 5f
There are 3 to consider here, Dinkum Diamond, Excel Bolt and Zebedee. DINKUM DIAMOND is currently the second best juvenile on official ratings with a Salisbury maiden and Sandown win to his credit. Excel Bolt could prove and improver but will probably find this step up in grade a bit too stiff. Richard Hannon’s number 1 hope is Zebedee who is in the same camp really. I appreciate Dinkum Diamond will go off favourite but my opinion is that he will score for today’s opener.
Main bet: DINKUM DIAMOND 3/1 to win.
3.05 Ribblesdale Stakes (Class 1) (Group 2) (Fillies) 3 year olds. 1m 4f
Unfair or not, this race has gained a reputation for not being kind to former Epsom winners which turns our consideration to horses like Henry Cecil’s Principal Role, Godolphin’s Fillies’ Mile winner Hibaayib and Fatanah trained by Marcus Tregoning. Howeer, I would go for Richard Hannon trained MIDDLE CLUB who came 2nd in the Italian Oaks and at Saint Cloud. These races showed he needed the extra furlong which he gets today.
Main bet: MIDDLE CLUB 13/2 each way.
3.50 Gold Cup (Class 1) (Group 1). 2m 4f
Wouldn’t it be marvellous to see Henry Cecil win this with Manifest? He already has 4 Gold Cups to his bow. You may remember Le Moss and Ardross? But today he has got to come up against ASK , Kite Wood and Age of Aquarius. Kite Wood, an Aidan O’Brien trained runner, will quite probably be able to make the extra half-mile because the extra distance gave him a win at Newmarket and Newbury before the St. Ledger but may not prove enough today. Age of Aquarius showed fleet of foot at Longchamp recently by drawing a 13 length gap from the 3rd horse and is marked as a potential Yeats! However, despite being an unknown quantity over marathon trips, ASK has substantial class on his side having won the 2mile Prix Royal-Oak and shown a creditable performance in both the Arc and King George. For a better each way price there is Dermot Well’s Rite of Passage at 14/1 considered to be a dark horse – who knows? I would prefer adding Kasbah Bliss who is top class and can’t be ruled out.
Main bet: ASK 5/1 each way and/or Kasbah Bliss 13/2 each way.
4.25 Britannia Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) 3 year olds. 1m 4f
30 thunder to post. I don’t really like these cavalry charges as a lot of jostling takes place on the run. If I’m tempted I’d rather consider both BALDUCCI and Layline. Balducci is worth a punt together with a longer odds each way, namely Layline which trainer Ralph Beckett has kept fresh for this race.
Main bet BALDUCCI 10/1 each way and/or Layline 25/1 each way.
5.00 Hampton Court Stakes (Class 1) (Listed Race) 3 year olds. 1m 2f
Another cavalry charge with 16 belting to the line so what stands out? Luca Cumani’s AFSARE is the most progressive horse in the race having successfully scored at Doncaster recently. Next consideration is Fair Trade trained by David Elsworth but class has to show with Asfare if anything’s fair in life! However, Her Majesty will be thrilled to bits if her horse Quadrille wins. Certainly, Quadrille offers good opposition to AFSARE.
Main bet: ASFARE 10/3 to win.
5.35 King George V Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) 1mile 4f
The only reason I’m going for another favourite is because of Sir Michael Stout’s record with middle-distance handicappers is almost legend. He trains LONDON STRIPE which appeals because the handicapper has been kind in penalising him with just 5lbs. There is opposition though with both Dandino and Tactician. Tactician, another Queen’s horse, who is the son of Derby winning sire Motivator and came 2nd to Coordinated Cut, may well pull it out on the day. On the basis of picking just one for the pot though, I go with Sir Michael to land the last but, even so, wish the Queen the very best of luck.
Main bet: LONDON STRIPE 9/2 each way.
GOOD LUCK!
